What is Foundayo?
Foundayo contains orforglipron.
It was authorised in the UK in August 2026 for weight management and type 2 diabetes.
For weight management, it is licensed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity in adults with obesity, or adults who are overweight and have at least one weight-related comorbidity within licensed criteria.
How does it work?
Orforglipron is an oral non-peptide GLP-1 receptor agonist.
It activates the GLP-1 receptor and influences pathways involved in appetite regulation and food intake.
How is it taken?
Foundayo is taken once daily.
Licensed tablet progression:
0.8 mg daily for at least 30 days
then: 2.5 mg daily
If clinically appropriate and tolerated, subsequent levels include:
5.5 mg 9 mg 14.5 mg 17.2 mg
with at least 30 days at the current dose before escalation.
Maximum licensed tablet dose:
17.2 mg once daily
Food and drink
Foundayo can be taken at any time of day, with or without food.
The tablet should be swallowed whole.
It should not be broken, crushed or chewed.
Common side effects
Can include:
- nausea
- constipation
- diarrhoea
- vomiting
- indigestion
- abdominal pain
- bloating
- reflux
- dizziness
- headache
- gallstones
- hair loss
- tiredness
Other effects may occur.
Important safety information
Acute pancreatitis has been reported and requires urgent medical assessment where suspected.
Gastrointestinal effects can contribute to dehydration.
A complete medication history is important because oral orforglipron has clinically relevant medicine-interaction considerations.
Relevant planned surgery/anaesthesia should also be discussed.
Stop taking this medicine and seek urgent medical help for severe, persistent abdominal pain, with or without nausea or vomiting. This may indicate acute pancreatitis.
Pregnancy and contraception
Foundayo should not be used during pregnancy.
Current UK patient information advises stopping orforglipron at least three weeks before a planned pregnancy.
Orforglipron may reduce the effectiveness of oral hormonal contraceptives.
Current UK information advises adding a barrier method or switching to a non-oral contraceptive method for 30 days after starting Foundayo and for 30 days after each dose increase.
Is Foundayo right for me?
The convenience of an oral tablet does not automatically make it appropriate for an individual.
